Do I need to pass a test?
Yes. You will need to apply for a Journeyman plumber examination and must get a passing score of 70% (or higher).
What are the educational requirements?
You must have satisfactorily completed on year of instruction in plumbing at a board-approved technicial college or community college or have completed a two-year program at a career and technical education program approved pursuant to 20-A MRS § 8306-B as a secondary student or in a registered Department of Labor apprenticeship program.

Once I pass the exam, how do I get a license?
Twenty-four hours after you pass examination you can apply online or download a licensure application (PDF).
When and how can I apply for a journeyman license?
As a licensed Journeyman-in-Training you will need to work for one year and obtained 2000 hours of work experience. To apply, you must submit a completed application that includes an affidavit from your supervising master plumber attesting to the work experience and work hours completed.
I cannot find my license certificate. Can you send me a duplicate?
You may request a duplicate license online. There is no charge to have a replacement emailed to you.
Is my application confidential?
No. With the exception of Social Security Number, all application information is public. Contact information provided to the Board is posted on our website.
