He proudly served in the U.S. Army, carrying on a tradition of loyalty, honor and respect. A loving son, grandson, brother, father and husband.

For his 10 1/2 years of service to our country in the US Navy. His love of his country shows with every Flag he sees or song he hears about his Country the -USA !! He salutes all flags he sees when traveling and even though wheelchair bound, will struggle to stand when the National Anthem plays.

Michael Pipes graduated from Island Falls High School in 1968. At the age of 18 he enlisted in the US Army. After boot camp he went to Saigon, Vietnam. Serving from 1968-1971. In 1973 he married Bonnie Brewer and was the father of Michael Jr. and Michelle. On Dec. 28, 1979 he died in a Mill accident in Patten.Me

Chief Machinist Mate Scammon served in the US Navy from 1917 to 1918, stationed aboard the patrol vessel USS Wissahickon, at the Rockland, ME Naval Section Base.

He was so proud of the time he was enlisted in the Army; he served his country proud and was proud to be an American until the day he died.

He was very patriotic man until the day he died.

My son Matthew Kent has done six tours in Iraq and Afghanistan in special forces, I cannot say enough how proud I am of you! The way you carry yourself, the husband and father that you have become and how other service members look up to you, speaks for itself. Fathers always want there children to be better themselves, I can always say with great passion that son you are my hero and I am so proud to have you for my son!!
