Vendors – Grocers and Farmers

Maine Grocers and Maine Farmers who are authorized by the Maine Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) are referred to as WIC authorized vendors. They are a vital to the WIC Program and help provide nutritious foods to women, infants, and children within their community. We support the consumption of fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, and encourage shopping with local WIC authorized farmers.

Important Notice – Update to WIC Yogurt Food Package

The Maine WIC State Agency will update the WIC participant food package on October 20, 2025, to resolve yogurt transaction issues. This change may temporarily affect transactions at your store(s).

To reduce impacts, please ensure your point-of-sale (POS) system is receiving and loading the Approved Product List (APL) daily. Delays in APL updates may cause yogurt purchases to be denied by the EBT processor.

Important Guidance (Effective October 20, 2025):

  • If a WIC transaction is denied, check the yogurt fat content.

    • Advise customers with a whole yogurt balance to purchase only whole yogurt. Low-fat substitutions are no longer allowed.

    • If the transaction is denied, remove the yogurt and process it in a separate WIC transaction.

  • If the transaction still does not process correctly, please refer the participant to their local WIC clinic for assistance.

We appreciate your cooperation and continued support in helping WIC families successfully redeem their benefits.
