Health professionals play a crucial role in maintaining Maine's public health.
The Maine CDC provides extensive resources specifically tailored for health providers. These resources include timely Health Advisory Notices, clear procedures for disease reporting, and comprehensive immunization programs.
Additionally, we offer patient referral information, clinical and environmental testing services, forensic chemistry resources, detailed policy and procedure manuals, and professional development and training opportunities.
These tools and resources empower health professionals to deliver effective patient care, remain compliant with health regulations, and significantly contribute to our shared goal of building a healthier Maine.

A standing order is a non-patient specific order from a health department physician that authorizes specific qualified health care providers to administer tests, or perform other interventions according to approved medical protocols. Standing orders enable more efficient care by removing the need for additional visits to a health care provider, and may be used to expand access to certain health care services, particularly for individuals who do not have reliable access to primary care services. Title 22, §3173-K: Standing orders.
