WIC Food Benefits

The food benefits provided support WIC's nutrition education messages, support successful long-term breastfeeding, and provide more variety of foods. Food benefits are tailored to a participant's needs, age, and breastfeeding level. For example, a woman who is fully breastfeeding her baby receives different types and amounts of foods than a one-year-old child.

WIC Food Guide

Find a list of WIC approved foods in the WIC Food Guide Participant Booklet (PDF). The Visual Food Package Guide (PDF) helps show the size and amount of food you can get.

The Maine CDC WIC Nutrition Program provides contract brand specific standard infant formula. At this time, the standard infant formula contract is with Abbott for five Similac brand formulas.

Monthly Cash Value Benefit (CVB)

The current monthly CVB for fruits and vegetables are:

• $26 for child participants,
• $47 for pregnant and postpartum participants, and
• $52 for fully and partially breast/chestfeeding participants.

Maine WIC authorizes stores and farmers to provide participants with a variety of WIC-allowed foods and locally grown fruits and vegetables.

Use the table below to find a store or farmer near you. You can sort the list by name, town, or county, or use the search bar on the right to filter by keyword. Click the store name to open the location in Google Maps.
