Date: - Google Outlook iCal

Evaluating patients with suspected viral hemorrhagic fever (VHF) can present complex clinical challenges, particularly when malaria is also a diagnostic consideration. Frontline healthcare professionals must navigate testing options, laboratory safety considerations, interpretation of results, and clinical decision-making to support timely and appropriate patient care. This webinar will use real-world case studies from Denver Health to explore practical approaches to malaria testing and the evaluation of patients with suspected VHF. Expert panelists will discuss available testing options, specimen collection and handling, laboratory safety, communication and coordination among clinical teams, laboratories, public health departments, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Participants will also explore how to interpret laboratory findings, assess patient risk, consider the possibility of VHF and malaria coinfection, and make informed decisions about presumptive treatment. The session will conclude with a moderated panel discussion and audience Q&A.
