Please review this information and clinical guidance from the U.S. and Maine CDCs on the hantavirus cluster caused by a species of hantavirus known as Andes virus (Orthohantavirus andesense), linked to the cruise ship, MV Hondius. As of May 11, 2026, there are no known cases of Andes virus in Maine or known exposed travelers returning to Maine. The risk to the general public is very low.
