Deer Isle ? Crews have been granted permission to extend the rehabilitation of the Deer Isle-Sedgwick Bridge until February 12, 2014.

There will be no work during the period of December 23, 2013 through January 1, 2014.

Traffic restrictions will continue with a minimum of one lane of traffic during the work hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Mondays, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. crews will remove all lane closures and open the bridge to unrestricted traffic.

Benton - The East Benton Bridge on Bog Road in Benton has been posted with a maximum weight limit of 3 tons.

All vehicles heavier than 3 tons that require access from one side of Fifteen Mile Stream to the other should use East Benton Road, Benton Road and Route 202 in order to by-pass this bridge.

No width restrictions are involved with this posting.

At this weight limit, vehicles such as school buses, fire trucks, oil delivery trucks and dump trucks will not be able to use this bridge. Cars and light duty pickup trucks will be permitted.

Verona ? The Penobscot Narrows Bridge will remain closed overnight due to falling ice. Crews will reassess the situation at first light.

Earlier today as temperatures started to rise, ice fell from the cables and piers resulting in damage of 5 to 6 vehicles. Out of an abundance of caution, MaineDOT closed the bridge to all traffic until further notice.

Updates will be provided as conditions warrant.

Prospect ? The Penobscot Narrows Bridge remains closed at this time due to the risk of additional falling ice from the bridge piers and cables.

MaineDOT has a crane on site that will attempt to gently knock ice that has formed on the cables. This operation will continue into this evening.

The outcome of this attempt will help determine the timeframe for traffic to once again move across this bridge.

Verona ? The Penobscot Narrows Bridge will be closed on Sunday, January 5th starting mid-day (somewhere between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.) to let air temperatures melt the remaining ice off of the bridge cables and pylons. Last Sunday, the bridge closed due to the unique weather conditions that caused ice to drop from the cable-stayed bridge onto the road way, damaging traveling vehicles. Due to freezing temperatures, ice has remained on the bridge so the bridge re-opened, and has remained open, since Monday, December 30th.

Verona ? The Penobscot Narrows Bridge is now open to all traffic.

The bridge was closed on Sunday, January 5th mid-day to let air temperatures melt the remaining ice off of the bridge cables and piers. Due to the temperatures and today?s rainfall, ice is now cleared from the bridge and traffic can flow freely.

Augusta - Maine DOT is strongly encouraging motorists to ?slow down and drive with caution.? Dale Doughty, Director of Maintenance and Operations, is asking for public cooperation during this difficult weather event. ?MaineDOT crews are out in full force today dealing with frozen culverts, and cleaning drainage basins in order to prevent flooding. Motorists need to slow down as they approach ponding on roadways and give our crews the space they need to work safely. ?

The Interstate 95 high level bridge in Kittery is closed in both directions due to a car fire.

Fairfield/Benton ? Joint repair work on the Clinton A. Clauson Bridge between Fairfield and Benton has been completed. The northbound lanes of I-95 as well as the Exit 133 northbound on-ramp will open to all motorists by day?s end.

Traffic has been restricted since late 2011 to facilitate the replacement of the concrete deck superstructures on the I-95 bridges over the railroad and the Clinton A. Clauson Bridges spanning the Kennebec River.

Motorists should be aware that there will be additional closures during the first week of April for the painting of the bridge.
