I-95 Waterville Crash Update

An update from the Department of Public Safety:

Northbound traffic on Interstate 95 continues to be backed up in Waterville as crews begin work to remove the tractor trailer that has blocked the northbound side.

Troopers say it appears the truck?s driver ? 54 year old Paul Casona of Epping, NH was distracted and the truck struck the guardrails on both sides of the road and then jack-knifed on the KMD overpass.

I-95 Crash in Waterville Slows Traffic

State police say a tractor trailer has overturned on Interstate 95 in Waterville.

The wreck is on the Kennedy Memorial Drive overpass and one lane is blocked. No injuries have been reported, but there is considerable debris in the road and traffic will be affected for the rest of the afternoon. The crash was reported at 10:19 a.m.

Troopers are now planning to detour all northbound traffic at the KMD exit while the wreck is cleared. Northbound motorists should expect significant delays through the afternoon. The wreck took place in the northbound lane on the overpass.

Two Rumford Bridge Projects to Begin

Rumford ? Beginning on Monday, May 9th, a $2 million bridge re-decking project will begin on the Upper Canal Bridge on Bridge Street in Rumford that will require a full closure and detour. At the same time, a nearly $1.6 million painting project will begin nearby on the Morse Bridge, also located on Bridge Street.

The Morse Bridge project will allow a single lane of westbound traffic only. Heavy truck traffic will be detoured onto Route 2 which will add about 1.6 miles. One sidewalk will be maintained on the bridge for pedestrians.

All of I-395 Completely Open Today at 1 PM

Bangor ? The Maine Department of Transportation announced this morning that this weekend?s Webster Avenue Bridge replacement would be completed today (Monday, 5/9) at 1 PM, and that Interstate 395 would return to full operation at that time.

In order to facilitate a quick and efficient swap of the entire overpass in a single extended weekend, construction crews had cordoned off the section of I-395 between Exits 1 and 2 last Friday evening, detouring traffic on two separate routes.

IAMPE CERTIFIES PORT PROFESSIONALS

The International Association of Maritime and Port Professionals (IAMPE) is pleased to announce its latest class of maritime managers and executives to complete the IAMPE Professional Certification Program.

The program provides a recognized industry-wide professional certification for those port and maritime professionals who have industry experience and who enroll in and complete the management certification program. The program includes comprehensive seminar education offered by industry professionals and approved by the Board of the IAMPE.

Downtown Portland Paving Schedule

Portland ? As the paving continues in the downtown area of Portland, the schedule for the week of 5/23 is as follows:

On Monday, May 23rd, crews will be milling Commercial Street from Dana Street to Franklin Arterial on the ocean side. On Tuesday, paving begins that will periodically impact access to and from the wharves and parking areas (such as Dimillo?s Resturant) for up to an hour and half at a time.

Route 201 to Shutdown on Friday

From the Department of Public Safety:

State Police will be overseeing the removal of a wind turbine tower along Route 201 in Johnson Mountain Township on Friday, about halfway between The Folks and Jackman.

The work will begin at 7 AM and will continue for most of the day. Troopers expect Route 201 to be completely shut down for most of the afternoon as cranes will be used to lift the windmill section onto a trailer.
