Traffic Counting Sensor to be Installed on I-295 in South Portland

South Portland ? Crews will be installing a traffic counting sensor on a light pole on I-295 in South Portland on Wednesday, November 12th.

The project will be performed at the Exit 3 northbound on-ramp. Crews may need to close off the shoulder for a short period of time, but the ramp will remain fully accessible.

It is anticipated the work will be performed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

This project supports our Traffic Monitoring Program which provides the number of vehicles utilizing the highway throughout the year as well as changes in travel patterns.

Lane and Ramp Closures Scheduled on I-295 in Portland

Portland ? MaineDOT crews will conduct various lane and ramp closures on I-295 in the Portland area for high mast lighting repair. This work will take place after 9:00 p.m. to minimize traffic disruption but is subject to weather conditions.

On Monday evening, November 17th, the Exit 9 southbound off-ramp will be closed. Following that lighting repair, lanes will be closed northbound between Exit 8 and Exit 10 but the exits will remain accessible.

If need be, work may continue on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, November 18th and 19th.

Bangor I-95 Union Street Bridge Overnight Schedule

Bangor ? Crews will be working on Interstate 95 during the overnight hours on the Union Street Bridge in Bangor. This work involves closing lanes of traffic on the interstate to allow for construction to take place safely between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The current schedule for the week is as follows:

Sunday, November 16th:

The southbound on-ramp will be closed.

Monday, November 17th:

The southbound on-ramp will be closed.

Tuesday, November 18th:

Traffic Sensors to be Resealed in Wiscasset

Wiscasset ? Crews will be resealing traffic sensors in the road on Route 1 in Wiscasset on Wednesday, November 19th from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

The project will begin at the Beechnut Hill Road intersection and extend approximately 1000ft.

Alternating one-way traffic will be controlled by flaggers within the work zone.

Agreement Reached for Construction of the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge

Augusta ? The Maine Department of Transportation has formally entered into an agreement with Cianbro Corporation of Pittsfield, Maine for the construction of the new Sarah Mildred Long Bridge connecting Kittery, Maine and Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

?This agreement represents a good bridge for a good price with a base bid construction cost of $158.5 million to be divided between the two states,? said MaineDOT Commissioner David Bernhardt. ?The seacoast area will be well served for generations with this new bridge.?

Joint Seal Project on Bond Brook Bridge in Augusta

Augusta ? Crews will be placing joint seals on I-95 northbound at the Bond Brook Bridge in Augusta on Tuesday, November 25th.

The project begins 1000ft. before Bond Brook Bridge and will extend 500ft. after the bridge. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with a reduced speed limit of 55mph.

It is anticipated all work will be completed by the end of the day on Tuesday, November 25th.

Hazardous Travel Expected

FROM WCSH?S TODD GUTNER --- We will be all snow by the evening and as soon as darkness sets in roads will start getting slippery and snow covered. The worst of the storm will be from 6PM to about 2AM tonight and driving will be very difficult with snow rates of 1 inch per hour and limited visibility...please be careful.

SARAH MILDRED LONG BRIDGE REPLACEMENT PROJECT OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF CONSTRUCTION PHASE

TRAFFIC ALERT: Augusta/Waterville Area - Traffic is being detoured OFF I-95 northbound at exit 113 and back on at exit 120 (Sidney) due to a tractor trailer accident. It is anticipated the closure will extend through the evening commute. Please find an alternate route if possible.
