Culvert Replacement Project to Begin in Grafton Township

Grafton Township ? Crews will be replacing a box culvert in Grafton Township beginning on Monday, August 11th.

The project will be on Route 26 approximately 1.78 miles northerly of the Newry town line. Temporary traffic signals will be used to provide alternating one-way traffic for motorists for the duration of the project.

It is anticipated all work will be completed by mid-October.

Drew Corporation of Lovell will perform this $258,000 project.

Culvert Replacement Leads to Detour in Newcastle

Newcastle ? Crews will be replacing a 20 ft.culvert on Sheepscot Road in Newcastle beginning on Tuesday, August 12th.

The location will be on Sheepscot Road, approximately one-quarter mile from the Route 1 intersection in Newcastle.

The approximately fifteen mile detour route will take motorists from Sheepscot Road to Route 1 to Route 27 to Huntoon Hill road to West Alna Road to Route 218 then back to Sheepscot Road.

It is anticipated all work will be completed by the end of the day on Thursday, August 14th.

Harrison Culvert Replacement Project Delayed

Harrison ? Due to unstable weather conditions, the culvert replacement project on Route 25 Harrison will be delayed until Monday, August 18th.

The location of the culvert replacement project is on Route 35 in Harrison, approximately 100ft. south of Zakelo Road. Route 35 southbound will be fully closed at this location. For northbound motorists, road work barricades with flaggers will be stopping traffic on Route 35 at the northern entrance to Cape Monday Road. Local traffic only will be permitted.

Project Bids Received for Expansion of the International Marine Terminal

Augusta ? Project bids were received this morning at MaineDOT headquarters in Augusta for the contract to expand the International Marine Terminal on Commercial Street in Portland.

The apparent low bidder is Shaw Brothers Construction of Gorham, Maine, with a low bid of $8.6 million. This is approximately $900,000 or 9% less than the state?s estimated construction cost. When combined with engineering, property acquisition, and other costs, the total project cost stands at approximately $18 million.

Bangor I-95 Union Street Bridge Overnight Work Schedule

Bangor ? Crews will be working on Interstate 95 during the overnight hours on the Union Street Bridge project in Bangor. This work involves closing one lane of traffic on the interstate to allow for construction to take place safely between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The current schedule for the week of August 18th is as follows:

Tuesday, August 19th ? The northbound passing lane will be closed

Thursday, August 21st ? The northbound passing lane and the southbound passing lane will be closed

Augusta Western Avenue Overpass to be Repaired

Augusta ? Joint repair and wearing surface work will begin in Augusta on the Western Avenue overpass over I-95 in the evening and overnight hours beginning on Sunday, August 17th.

The work will be at the intersection of Whitten Road and Western Avenue, with traffic being shifted to one lane each night through Friday, August 22nd.

The project hours will be from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

Motorists should expect minor delays through the area.

Crashes on I-295 in Portland

Portland ? Minor crashes have slowed traffic on I-295 in Portland in both the north and southbound lanes.

Northbound, crashes have occurred between mile 5 and 6 (Forest Avenue area)

Southbound, crashes have occurred near mile 3 (Fore River area)

All lanes remain open.

Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the area and allow for extra time.

Bridge Concrete Repair Work on Route 1 in Freeport

Yarmouth ? Concrete repair work will take place Wednesday, August 20th on Route 1 in Yarmouth on the bridge spanning the Muddy River. (In close proximity to the Muddy Rudder Restaurant).

The repairs will take place from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with temporary traffic lights assisting in alternating one-way traffic over this bridge.

Motorists are advised of delays during these repairs and should plan ahead or seek an alternate route.

Paving Project to Begin on Route 26 in Oxford

Oxford ? Crews will be paving approximately 1.9 miles of Route 26 in Oxford beginning on Wednesday, August 20th.

The paving begins at the Record Building Supply Company extending to the Skeetfield Road. Motorists should expect delays with alternating one-way traffic assisted by flaggers.

While weather dependent, it is anticipated all work will be completed on Thursday, August 21st.

Pike Industries of Fairfield will perform this $120,000 paving project.
