Local government officials in Maine are always looking for ways to do a better job and improve upon their skills. It's readily apparent that those individuals who take the time to attend training usually are better prepared to deal with local transportation concerns. This is a picture of road scholars. Attendance at various training programs provides one of the most cost-effective methods of providing quality road services, especially during tight financial times.

Products listed on the QPL are prequailified for use on Maine Department of Transportation highway and bridge projects. Final acceptance of the product occurs when the product is properly used in the field as determined by the engineer.

For fiscal year 2027, the proposed budget will be similar to 2026 and will be paid in November. Specific dollar amounts are subject to legislative approval in the spring of 2026.

The Legislature set the DOT Highway budget in Spring 2025 and LRAP figures were determined shortly thereafter and are available below. These allocations were paid to each municipality in November.

State rates for private equipment rental

The Maine Department of Transportation has established the following schedule of rates for Maintenance, Collector Road Improvement and other force account projects, as applicable. The Department is sensitive to the fact that fuel prices may be volatile at times. The Department may revise these rates if fuel prices escalate.

MaineDOT's Contract Procurement Office (CPO) is responsible for development, implementation and oversight of MaineDOT's contractual policies, procedures, and standards. The office provides the Department with prudent contracting practices in the areas of Consultant Contracts, State Administered Municipal Projects, and Professional Services Contracts.
