MCU South

The Major Crimes Unit-South (MCU-S) consists of one Lieutenant, two Sergeants, ten Detectives, one Polygraph Examiner and one Administrative Assistant covering York, Cumberland, Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin Counties. MCU-S Detectives investigate homicides, suspicious deaths, child abuse cases, sexual abuse cases and missing persons cases of an unusual or suspicious nature. In addition to our primary investigative duties, MCU-S Detectives serve on several specialty units within the State Police to include; Evidence Response Team, Bomb Team, Underwater Recovery Team, Tactical Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Incident Management Action Team, Crowd Management Team, Member Assistance Team and the Honor Guard Team.

MCU-S Detectives also assist as Firearms instructors and Emergency Vehicle Operator Course instructors for in-service training, the Basic Law Enforcement Training Program and the Recruit Training Troop. Three of our Detectives assist the Child Advocacy Center as Forensic Interviewers providing support for cases in Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin Counties.

The Major Crimes Unit-South has offices in Alfred, Gray, Auburn, South Paris and Farmington.
