GORHAM - The Maine Department of Transportation is performing paving work on Route 114 (School Street) in Gorham. The project area begins at the intersection of Main Street and School Street and extends 1.6 miles north along School Street. The project will perform paving, improve pedestrian safety, and improve drainage. Work will begin on Monday, May 12 and is scheduled to be finished by June of this year. Drivers traveling through the project location will encounter a single-lane, alternating traffic pattern. The contractor for this work is Glidden Excavating and Paving of Gorham.
BANGOR - The Maine Department of Transportation will be performing a lane closure on Broadway in Bangor on Thursday, May 15th, and Friday, May 16th. This closure is scheduled to run from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. This closure is required to perform backfilling operations. Broadway traffic will be reduced to a single lane through the work zone. I-95 will not be affected.
LEWISTON - The Maine Department of Transportation is actively working towards reopening College Road in Lewiston. Since the failure of the existing culvert and the resulting closure of the road to traffic at this location, MaineDOT has been actively working to replace the failed structure and restore access.
CUMBERLAND COUNTY - The Maine Department of Transportation will be reducing traffic to a single lane on the northbound side of I-295 between mile markers 17 and 19 during overnight hours next week. This work is part of the ongoing project to replace the Cousins River Bridge on I-295 near the Yarmouth-Freeport town line.
KENNEBEC COUNTY - The Maine Department of Transportation will be doing paving work and making other drainage and safety improvements in Augusta and on I-95 Northbound between Augusta and Waterville. The I-95 work area begins at the Civic Center Drive Bridge and extends north 13.54 miles. This project will also involve work on Route 3 in Augusta involving paving, slope repair, updating guardrail, and drainage improvements. This work area encompasses the two roundabouts on Route 3 which provide access to I-95.
SKOWHEGAN - The Maine Department of Transportation is beginning work on a sidewalk improvement project along Norridgewock Avenue in Skowhegan. The project area spans approximately 0.35 miles, from the Margaret Chase Smith Library to Coburn Avenue.
This work includes the construction of new sidewalks, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant upgrades, drainage improvements, and water utility work. Drivers should expect a single-lane of alternating traffic through the project area. This lane will have a width restriction of 11'.
DRESDEN- The Maine Department of transportation is replacing a failing culvert on Route 127 in Dresden. The work area is 0.13 miles south of Patterson Road (Route 197). Work is scheduled to begin on May 5th and is scheduled to be finished by May 8th. Monday, May 5th drivers can expect a single-lane of alternating traffic through the project area. On May 6 and 7 there will be a full road closure at the project location. Traffic will be detoured to Route 128 and Indian Road. The detour route will be marked. The contractor on this project is MaineDOT Bureau of Maintenance and Operations.
DRESDEN - The Maine Department of Transportation is performing a routine bridge inspection of the Middle Bridge on Friday, May 2nd. This bridge carries Patterson Road/Route 197 over the Eastern River. MaineDOT engineers inspect this bridge annually for safety.
This inspection work will impact traffic. Drivers should expect impacts between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. A detour route will be in effect while the work takes place. The contractor on the project is TyLin from Falmouth. The contract amount is $65,693.57
KENNEBEC & SOMERSET COUNTIES - The Maine Department of Transportation will be making pavement improvements on parts of I-95 Southbound in Augusta, Benton, Fairfield, Sidney, & Waterville. The project area begins at mile marker 134 and extends south to mile marker 112. The project will perform paving, update guardrail, and improve drainage. Work is scheduled to begin on Sunday, May 4th and be completed in the fall of this year. This project will involve night work occurring between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Sunday to Saturday.
