Topsham ? Crews will be repairing the Frank J. Wood Bridge that will include a lane closure beginning on Wednesday, April 19th.

All northbound traffic on the bridge into Topsham will be detoured from Route 1 to Route 196 back to Route 201.

Repairs include replacing the floor beams on span 1 on the bridge as well as continued preservation measures.

This northbound closure will end on April 24th.

Stetson & Watson of Holden will perform this $200,000 project.

Prospect - The Penobscot Narrows Bridge, connecting Verona Island and Prospect over the Penobscot River, will have new pavement and waterproofing membrane installed between April 24 and June 6.

From April 24 to April 30, a single shoulder will be closed on the bridge. Between May 1 and May 19 traffic over the bridge will be reduced down to one lane of alternating traffic controlled by flaggers. Drivers using Route 1 and Route 174 will need to plan on delays of up to 3 minutes.

Biddeford ? Crews will perform a paving operation (mill and fill) at two locations in Biddeford beginning on Monday, April 24th.

One location will be at the intersection of Elm Street (Route 1) and extend northerly for 0.85 of a mile to Alfred Street (Route 111) ending at the intersection of Alfred and Precourt Streets.

The other location begins at Falls Street and extends northerly for 0.44 of a mile to Maine Street.

Motorists should expect slight delays and are advised to use caution when traveling through the work zones.

Kittery - The Maine and New Hampshire Departments of Transportation will be initiating the closure of one northbound and one southbound through lane on the I-95 Piscataqua River Bridge between Portsmouth, NH and Kittery, ME beginning Thursday morning, April 27th.

The set-up for the closure is scheduled to begin on Wednesday evening, April 26th.

During this lane closure, an inspection of truss members will be conducted as well as other inspection and annual maintenance efforts.

Pittsfield ? Paving and other road work will occur on Interstate 95 north and southbound in Pittsfield, Palmyra and Newport beginning on Monday, May 1st.

The project is located on I-95 northbound beginning 0.04 of a mile north of Johnson Flat Road in Pittsfield and extends northerly for 13.57 miles to the bridge over the Maine Central Railroad in Newport.

The southbound section will be from the Palmyra/Pittsfield town line to the Exit 150 off-ramp in Pittsfield at Somerset Avenue.

Bar Harbor ? As the reconstruction of Route 3 north of Bar Harbor ramps up on the section between Crooked Road and Sand Point Road, northbound traffic will be detoured onto Crooked road. The detour will be effective Monday, May 1st. Southbound traffic on Route 3 will continue with travel restricted to one lane. MaineDOT and its contractors are placing signs to guide drivers. Access to all businesses and residences in the construction zone will be maintained throughout the project.

Bath ? MaineDOT announced today that the new Bath Viaduct will be opened to traffic next week, approximately 25 days ahead of schedule. Subject to weather in the next few days, MaineDOT contractors expect to complete laying the membrane, paving and striping the surface of the new viaduct in time to open the roadway to traffic at some point before Friday, May 5th. In doing so, the team of MaineDOT engineers and the contractors will have completed in approximately 195 days what took 729 days when the original viaduct was constructed.

Bath ? MaineDOT and its contractors have opened the new Bath Viaduct to traffic approximately 25 days ahead of schedule. Paving and striping were completed in the last few days, and workers removed the barriers and changed signs to allow Route 1 traffic to flow over the new viaduct this morning. Plans had called for the new viaduct to open just in time for Memorial Day, but MaineDOT engineers and their contractors completed the demolition of the original and construction of the new viaduct in just 195 days. The original viaduct construction in 1959 required 729 days to complete.

Vassalboro ? Beginning today, Tuesday, May 23rd, crews will be replacing a collapsed culvert in Vassalboro between the Nelson Road and Bog Road on Route 32.

Due to this emergency replacement, the road will be closed to all through traffic from Nelson Road to the Bog Road. All northbound traffic will be detoured onto Nelson Road to Crowell Road to Cross Hill Road then to Bog Road.

It is anticipated all work will be completed by the end of the day on Wednesday, May 24th.
