Update — New Opportunities for Clean Energy and Energy Efficiency in Maine's Public Schools
-
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) signed in late 2021 offers a wide variety of opportunities for clean energy and energy efficiency projects across all sectors – including programs specifically for public school facilities. One opportunity in particular provides competitive grants to make energy efficiency upgrades and improvements at public schools. During the discussion on October 6, the Efficiency Maine Trust and Governor’s Energy Office presented what is known about this federal opportunity and a Maine proposal focusing on retrofitting HVAC systems with high-efficiency heat pump systems. Other topics will include cost, performance, and benefits of heat pump retrofits in a school and ways to support the proposal.
