This event highlights the creativity and dedication of our workforce and partners who are developing innovations that address today’s infrastructure challenges while building resilient transportation systems for the future.
The Innovation Showcase provides an opportunity to share successful initiatives, pilot projects, and forward-thinking practices that enhance safety, efficiency, sustainability, and overall performance. By bringing these efforts together, MaineDOT continues to foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation.
As part of the showcase, MaineDOT will recognize outstanding contributions through a series of Innovation Awards. These categories highlight excellence across a range of focus areas.
Route to Innovation Award
Recognizes innovations that improve processes through research and creative solutions, with a focus on efficiency, effectiveness, and leadership.
Driving Innovation Together Award
Highlights the importance of collaboration by recognizing innovative and research contributions achieved through teamwork.
People’s Choice Innovation Award
Honors the innovation or research effort selected as the MVP by Showcase attendees.
Pioneering Safety Award
Recognizes innovations and research that demonstrate a strong commitment to improving safety through forward-thinking approaches.
Homegrown Innovation Award
Celebrates locally developed innovations from MaineDOT Maintenance & Operations employees, highlighting practical and creative solutions from the field.
Distinguished Innovator Award
Recognizes an individual who demonstrates a strong commitment to research and innovation while advancing a culture of innovation in transportation.
MaineDOT’s first annual Innovation Showcase will take place at the Augusta Civic Center on October 27, 2026.
