Bridge Work Between Route 196 and Route 1 in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK - For the next several weeks, Maine Department of Transportation crews will be performing maintenance work on the bridges that connect Route 196 with the northbound side of Route 1 in Brunswick.

Work on the bridge that connects Route 196 to the northbound side of Route 1 is scheduled to take place between Monday, April 11th and Wednesday, April 20th. Detoured traffic should take Route 1 south to the Maine Street exit to get back on the northbound side of Route 1.

Work Zones are a Sign to Slow Down

WEST GARDINER - National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW) is being observed from Monday, April 11th through Friday, April 15th. This year's theme is "Work Zones are a Sign to Slow Down." NWZAW has been observed for more than 20 years and was launched as a public awareness campaign to help everyone understand how each of us plays a role in keeping motorists and roadway workers safe.

Veranda Plan: Route 1/Veranda Street Will Close Under I-295 on Monday for One Week

PORTLAND - The Maine Department of Transportation will be closing Route 1/Veranda Street under I-295 in Portland on Monday, April 18th at 2:00 p.m. The road will remain closed for one week to accommodate bridge replacement work on I-295. Route 1/Veranda Street is scheduled to reopen on Monday, April 25th at 2:00 p.m.

Veranda Plan: Route 1/Veranda Street Is Back Open

PORTLAND - The Maine Department of Transportation reopened Route 1/Veranda Street under the Veranda Street Bridge in Portland at 2:00 p.m. today. The road had been closed for a full week to accommodate the rapid replacement of the Veranda Street Bridge on I-295 between Exits 9 and 10. The interstate was closed to traffic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and reopened at 7:00 a.m. today four hours ahead of schedule.

Veranda Plan: I-295 Is Back Open

PORTLAND - The Maine Department of Transportation opened the new Veranda Street Bridge to traffic shortly before 7:00 a.m. today four hours ahead of schedule. This bridge carries I-295 over Route 1/Veranda Street (between Exits 9 and 10) in Portland. It is one of the most heavily travelled corridors in the State of Maine. The new bridge is designed to last 100 years.

Overnight Paving Work on I-295 in Portland and South Portland

CUMBERLAND COUNTY - The Maine Department of Transportation is continuing a paving project on the southbound side of I-295 in Portland and South Portland. The project area begins at the Portland city line and extends nearly 11 mile south, including on- and off-ramps.

This work will be done at night, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. No work will be allowed on Saturday nights or Sunday mornings. Work will also not be allowed on the weekends of Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day.
