AUGUSTA - As Maine prepares to welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors this Labor Day weekend, the Maine Department of Transportation is reminding drivers to be safe and announcing the next phase of work on the Piscataqua River bridge that connects Kittery to Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

BELGRADE - The Maine Department of Transportation will be resuming work on Route 27 in Belgrade Lakes on Tuesday, September 3rd. Crews will be working on the sidewalks, lighting, paving, and landscaping. The tentative dates for final paving are September 16th and 17th. The completion date for this project is October 19th. Drivers should expect an alternating, single-lane traffic pattern while crews are working. The contractor on this job is Pratt & Sons, Inc. of Mechanic Falls.

KITTERY - The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge will be closed to traffic for three nights later this month to accommodate overnight inspections of the bridge machinery. The closures will occur on the nights of Monday, September 16th; Tuesday, September 17th; and Wednesday, September 18th. Bridge closures will run from 8:00 p.m. through 6:00 a.m. the following day.

LUBEC - Beginning September 8th at 5:00 p.m., the Mays Bridge on Route 189 in Lubec will be closed for ten days. Crews started work to replace the bridge on August 26th. During the ten-day-long closure, traffic will be detoured from Route 189 to Timber Cove Road and Crows Neck Road. Trucks and RVs will follow a signaled detour on Route 191. Once the bridge reopens, there will be a single-lane alternating traffic pattern for approximately another three weeks while the work is being finished.

FALMOUTH - Beginning Monday, September 9th, Gray Road (Routes 26 and 100) in Falmouth will be closed for seven days. Crews will be installing a new culvert under the road just north of the Winn Road intersection. This work requires full road closure through Sunday, September 15th. Homes and businesses will be accessible but only from either side of the closure. No through traffic will be allowed.

TREMONT - The Maine Department of Transportation will be closing the Marsh Bridge to traffic starting on or about September 16th, 2019. The bridge carries Bass Harbor Road over the Marsh Brook in Tremont. It will be closed for approximately 60 days to accommodate a partial replacement. Traffic will be detoured using Route 102A.

BIDDEFORD - The Maine Department of Transportation is going to be resurfacing the Swan Pond Bridge in Biddeford. The Swan Pond Bridge carries South Street over Swan Pond Brook. Work is scheduled to begin on September 12th and end on September 16th. Drivers should expect an alternating single-lane traffic pattern during this work. Shaw Brothers Construction, Inc. of Gorham is the contractor on this job.

READFIELD - The Maine Department of Transportation is going to be detouring traffic on Route 41 in Readfield to replace a culvert. The work area is near the intersection of Route 41 and Beans Mills Road. The 36-hour-detour will start at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16th and end at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 17th. After the detour ends, work on the project will continue until September 21st, and drivers should expect an alternating single-lane traffic pattern. BIDDEFORD - The Maine Department of Transportation will be resurfacing City Farm Bridge in Biddeford from September 12th to September 16th. The bridge carries Main Street over Thatcher Brook. Drivers should expect an alternating single-lane traffic pattern during this work. Shaw Brothers Construction, Inc. of Gorham is the contractor on this job.

LEBANON - The Maine Department of Transportation will be resurfacing the Milton Bridge in Lebanon from September 11th to September 13th. The bridge carries Garage Way/Prospect Hill Road over Salmon Falls River. Drivers should expect an alternating single-lane traffic pattern during this work.
