Maine School Nurses can sign up for this training through the form above. Maine DOE has partnered with the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management at the University of Utah to provide access to training to prepare school nurses to successfully implement evidence-based Pure Tone Audiometry screenings and follow-up practices. School nurses in Maine can contact their School Nurse Regional Liaison for more information.
To access the learning module, Maine School Nurses must first create an account in the EnGiNE Learning Platform using a Maine school email address. Search for school health learning modules and self-enroll. This module was developed with School Health Associates, LLC to provide nurses in Maine with the knowledge to implement evidence-based vision screenings for students.
This State of Maine-centered content is part of a larger National Association of School Nurses project funded by the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust. An objective of this project is to create a comprehensive, evidence-based school nurse T1D curriculum and a model for integrating state-specific considerations. The NASN curriculum is undergoing evaluation and will be released in the future.
You can access this in the EnGiNE Learning Platform in the course titled Maine Regulations for Diabetes Management.
