Supplemental Payments for Providers of Sections 2, 17, 26, 28 and 65

In accordance with Sections AAAA-3 and AAAA-6 of the biennial budget, 2021 P.L. Ch. 398, the Department will issue monthly supplemental “ramp” payments during calendar year 2022 that total $9.6 million to providers of services under Sections 2, 17, 26, 28 and 65 to support providers’ ability to pay their direct service workers at least 125% of Maine minimum wage. The first distribution of these temporary supplemental payments will include payments for both January and February 2022. For the remainder of the calendar year, payments will be issued monthly to eligible providers from March 2022 through December 2022. In accordance with Part AAAA, the Department has calculated provider-specific monthly payment amounts based on their proportion of revenue for these services for the most recent 12 months for which full claims data is available, October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2021.

The Department will issue the first payment, for January and February combined, on March 2nd. Providers will receive this payment as part of the provider’s weekly payment cycle; we will indicate the payment as an “OTHER” payment on the Summary page of the remittance advice (RA). If the Department is not reimbursing a provider for any claims this week, the provider will still receive the supplemental ramp payment, but without an RA. For providers receiving an electronic 835 remittance, the invoice number will have the special prefix “RMP.” For each following monthly ramp payment, the payment is scheduled to be issued on the last Wednesday of the month. This will begin with the March payment, which will be issued on Wednesday, March 30.
