Single Assessment Q&A Sessions for Children’s Behavioral Health Services (CBHS) Providers

The Office of MaineCare Services (OMS) and CBHS appreciate the continued questions and feedback regarding implementation of the Single Assessment process for medium- and high-intensity services. As part of ongoing efforts to improve the process and support providers, OMS and CBHS are hosting two Single Assessment Q&A sessions.

These sessions will cover the same content. Providers are encouraged to attend whichever session is most convenient; attendance at both sessions is not necessary.

To help ensure the sessions address provider questions and concerns, providers are encouraged to submit questions in advance using the Single Assessment Question Submission Form. Submitted questions will be organized by topic and addressed at the beginning of each session, followed by time for additional discussion and follow-up questions.

Background

As previously communicated, the time required to schedule and complete Single Assessments has been longer than anticipated. To reduce barriers to care while these operational issues are being addressed, the Department implemented temporary process changes so children and families can continue to access services without unnecessary delay. Under this temporary process, a completed Single Assessment is not required prior to submitting a referral for most medium- and high-intensity services. However, the Single Assessment remains a required component of the system and will be used to determine ongoing eligibility for medium- and high-intensity services.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for your work supporting children and families.
