Objectives:

  1. Participants will learn how to approach and engage with a youth experiencing a mental health challenge or crisis. 
  2. Participants will learn how language and stigma can impact the outcome of a youth’s mental health challenge or crisis. 
  3. Participants will learn about the importance of meaningful and personalized self-care for their own burnout prevention and wellbeing.

Kristel Thyrring, LSW (she/her) is NAMI Maine’s Youth Programs Director.  With a degree in Social Science, maintaining a license in social work, and a professional history in child welfare, Kristel is ready to discuss mental wellness, resources, and why we need to know and do more. Kristel has a passion for bettering the lives of Maine’s young people and helping them successfully transition to adulthood. 

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Maine Medical Education Trust and Medical Care Development, Inc. The Maine Medical Education Trust is accredited by the Maine Medical Association Committee on Continuing Medical Education and
Accreditation to provide continuing medical education for physicians. A maximum of 1 AMA credit TM.
