DHHS Partner Briefing on Federal Medicaid Work Requirements and Increased Renewals | Briefing #2: Implementation Updates
You are invited to join a Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) briefing to learn more details about how DHHS is planning to implement federal changes to Medicaid (in Maine, MaineCare) eligibility that will go into effect on January 1, 2027. Content will expand upon the information provided at the first Partner Briefing, held on August 24, 2026.
When: Thursday, November 19, 2026, 3:00 – 4:00 PM
Where: Virtual, please register in advance via Zoom.
During this webinar, the DHHS Office for Family Independence (OFI) and Office of MaineCare Services (OMS) will provide updates and information on:
- Timelines and key messages for members.
- Updates to the eligibility process, including self-attestation in 2027 and new questions on the application and renewal forms.
- Information about exemptions, including more details on work-limiting health conditions.
- Updates to parent/caretaker eligibility.
- Available communications resources.
As a reminder, these eligibility rule changes only affect MaineCare Expansion members: adults between 19 and 64 years old who get MaineCare based on their income. They do not meet the Social Security disability guidelines or have Medicare. This is about one in five MaineCare members.
Our websites, MaineCare.gov/Work and MaineCare.gov/FederalChanges, provide the most up-to-date information and communications resources and tools to reach the populations in your community that will need to know more and take action to meet the new federal Work Requirements for MaineCare. These websites will continue to be updated with information and resources as they become available.
Register and join to learn more and assist with sharing information and resources in your community. Space is limited, so please register early.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Feel free to share this invitation with other interested organizations who may wish to attend.
