Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) Certification Grants

The American Rescue plan is funding a grant opportunity through Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA). The applications will be accepted between July 1, 2023 - July 31, 2023.    

Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded to up to 10 applicants to support their completion of the ATP certification requirements. Applicants for the grant should be within six months of completing all qualifying criteria for the certification. Applicants must agree to become waiver providers for Assistive Technology Assessments for MaineCare Sections 18, 20, 21, and 29.  

Expenses must be directly related to the completion of certification criteria and may include, but not limited to:  

  • RESNA membership  

  • ATP Exam fees  

  • ATP Exam prep fees  

  • Childcare while the applicant is engaged in   

  1.      Obtaining contact hours required for certification 
  2.      Attending the prep course to prepare for the exam  
  3.      Taking the exam for certification  
  4.      Attending coursework required for certification  
  • Mileage reimbursement for contact hours when travel exceeds 30 miles one way  

  • Other expenses directly related to obtaining certification. The Review Committee will determine whether the expenses meet the criteria.
