SupportLink Program Information

The SupportLink Program enables the Office for Family Independence (OFI) to share information about you and your family to help find other services and benefits you may qualify for, or to verify eligibility for them. This program helps make it easier for you to access services without having to fill out extra forms or provide the same information multiple times.

OFI created SupportLink because of the law passed by Maine legislature in 2023 (22 M.R.S. § 3110). To read the official program rules, visit the Secretary of State's DHHS rule page and select the link for Chapter 303 (Word): SupportLink Program.

How does this work?

With your permission, SupportLink will securely share only the information needed to check if you qualify for other programs or services. This means you may be connected more quickly to things like utility discounts or other money-saving benefits. Instead of having to apply separately for each program, SupportLink helps reduce paperwork, saves time, and lowers the chance of delays.

Who is my information shared with?

We will share information to enable easier enrollment or income verification for the following programs. The following entities have data sharing agreements with OFI as of October 1, 2026:

  • Eastern Maine Electric Cooperative  (EMEC)
  • Central Maine Power Company (CMP)
  • Fox Island Electric Cooperative, Inc (FIEC)
  • Houlton Water Company
  • Kennebunk Light & Power District
  • Madison Electric Works
  • Van Buren Light & Power District
  • Versant Power Corporation
  • Efficiency Maine
  • Portland Water District
  • Brunswick Landing Electric Utility

This list will be updated regularly as future agreements are made.

What information will OFI share?

OFI will only share information with the above-listed programs if they have agreed to comply with the Department’s rules for protecting your privacy. We will only share the minimum information needed to find services or verify eligibility. These agencies are not allowed to share, sell, or use the information for anything else.

What should I do if I don’t want my information shared?

OFI program participants can tell us not to share their information at any time by calling Monday through Friday from 7:00AM to 4:00PM at 1-855-797-4357 (TTY call Maine relay 711; interpreter available) or by making an account in My Maine Connection and updating their “My Information” page. The choice will take effect right away, except for information that was already shared. Saying no to sharing information will not affect eligibility for OFI programs or benefits.
