Introduction to Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a federal grant program administered by the United States Department of Labor that provides work-training opportunities for low-income persons aged 55 or older.
The Older Americans Act requires both the Office of Aging and Disability Services and the Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) to coordinate community support services with SCSEP services to improve the financial well-being of unemployed, low-income older adults seeking employment in Maine. All five AAAs provide information and referral services to older people across the state interested in participating in SCSEP. Most AAAs also provide training opportunities to SCSEP participants through community service assignments.
Am I Eligible?
To be eligible for SCSEP, you must be 55 or older, unemployed, looking for work, and have a household income at or below 125% of the federal poverty level.
