Pay and Benefits

Maine Game Wardens receive competitive pay and a strong State of Maine benefits package, including:

  • A 25-year retirement system
  • Overtime opportunities

  • Paid vacation and sick leave

Wardens retire at 50% of their maximum salary after 25 years of service. Employees who work more than 25 years receive an additional 2% of retirement pay for each additional year worked.

Equipment Provided

Maine Game Wardens are issued the equipment they need to do the job safely and effectively. This includes necessary outdoor law enforcement gear, an assigned 4x4 vehicle, watercraft, snowmobile, ATV, computer, telephone, GPS, digital camera, and other specialized equipment and apparel.
