Overnight Ramp Closures in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK – The Maine Department of Transportation will be closing three ramps in Brunswick overnight on October 8, 2025, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The southbound off ramp to Cooks Corner, the southbound off ramp to Route 196 West, and the northbound on ramp to Route 1 North from Cooks Corner will be closed for maintenance. Closures will be clearly marked with signs and cones. The closure will last for one night.

Brunswick Overnight Ramp Closures for Cooks Corner

BRUNSWICK – The Maine Department of Transportation will be closing two ramps in Brunswick overnight on October 7, 2025, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The off ramps from Route 1 Southbound and Route 1 Northbound leading to Cooks Corner will be closed for maintenance. Closures will be clearly marked with signs and cones.

Drivers traveling northbound to Cooks Corner will have to access it from Maine Street to connect to Route 24.

Drivers traveling southbound to Cooks Corner will have to use the previous exit to take New Meadow Road to connect to Bath Road to reach Cooks Corner.

Maxwell Bridge Project Detour in Litchfield

LITCHFIELD – The Maine Department of Transportation will be performing work on the Maxwell Bridge over Maggoty Meadow Brook for up to thirty days to replace the precast concrete box culvert starting on October 8. The work is expected to be completed by November 4. Richmond Road (Route 197) will be open to local traffic. Upper Pond Road will be closed to through traffic. Message boards will be used to alert drivers of the detour and closure. Drivers should follow posted detour signs. The contractor on this project is Shaw Brothers Construction, Inc. of Gorham, Maine.

ADA Compliance Sidewalk Project

RANGELEY/ANSON/STRONG/HARTLAND – Starting October 6, The Maine Department of Transportation will be performing work to make crosswalks ADA compliant in order to maintain a safe passage for pedestrians. The work for this project involves adjusting the height and slope of the sidewalks where needed to install yellow warning tiles called Detectable Warning Fields at various locations. Work is scheduled to be completed by October 25.

The northbound on ramp to Route 196 East to Route 1 North and the southbound on ramp from Cooks Corner to Route 1 South will each be closed for maintenance. Closures will be clearly marked with signs and cones, and drivers should use the next available exit during this period.

Drivers traveling to Route 1 northbound from Route 196 East should remain on Main Street and reenter Route 1 at the Mason Street / Cressey Rd northbound on ramp.

(AUGUSTA – October 1, 2025) – Hancock and Washington county residents who depended upon Downeast Community Partners for transit will soon have a new option. Waldo Community Action Partners (WCAP) – in collaboration with the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) – will soon fill the void created by DCP’s termination of transit services.

Route 1 Southbound Ramps in Brunswick Closed Overnight

BRUNSWICK - The Maine Department of Transportation will be closing the southbound on ramp from Route 196 East (Brunswick-Topsham Bypass) and the southbound off ramp to Maine Street on September 30, 2025, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. 

The ramps will be closed with signs and cones, and traffic will be expected to use the next available exit. 

Drivers heading south from Topsham should stay on Route 201/Main Street and re-enter using the Route 1 South on ramp off Main Street in Brunswick.
