US Route 1A in Hampden Opens Ahead of Schedule

Hampden ? US Route 1A in Hampden is back open to all traffic three days ahead of schedule.

Crews are performing a full reconstruction of Route 1A on North Main Street until the end of November. On Monday, August 13th, the stretch of road between Wheeldon Street and the R&K Variety Store was closed to traffic for the purpose of replacing a culvert located in a deep gully. Multiple detour signs guided motorists away from the work zone for five days.

I-295 Overnight Paving Between Freeport and Brunswick

Freeport ? Overnight paving work on I-295 from Freeport to Brunswick begins Sunday evening, August 19th.

Crews will pave I-295 beginning at the Cousis River in Freeport heading north to Exit 28 in Brunswick as well as the same area southbound. This work will be done primarily near Exits 22, 24 and 28 and will require single lane traffic through the work zones.

The Exit 22 off-ramp and Exit 24 on-ramp will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Frank J. Wood Bridge Safety Inspection

Brunswick/Topsham ? A safety inspection on the Frank J. Wood Bridge connecting Brunswick and Topsham is scheduled for Monday, August 20th starting at 8 a.m.

During this one day event, northbound motorists on Route 201 and Route 24 will be detoured to Route 1 east to Route 196. Southbound traffic WILL be allowed on the bridge. Traffic will be re-opened to both lanes when crews have completed the inspection.

Culvert Replacement in Gouldsboro

Gouldsboro ? Crews are in the process a culvert replacement and guardrail improvements project at the intersection of Route 186 with the Clinic Road in Gouldsboro. Alternating one-way traffic assisted by flaggers is underway, with a temporary road being constructed by the end of this week. This temporary road, with signalized traffic lights, will facilitate the replacement of the culvert and help traffic flow toward Winter Harbor without disruption.

I-95 Northbound On and Off Ramp Overnight Paving

Waterville to Pittsfield ? Crews will be paving the on and off ramps for two nights from Waterville to Pittsfield, necessitating the closure of the on and off ramps northbound.

On Wednesday, August 22nd, Exit 130 on and off ramps northbound will be closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. for paving and drainage improvements.

On Thursday, August 23rd, Exit 132 on and off ramps northbound will be closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. for paving and drainage improvements.

Frank J. Wood Bridge Joint Repair

Brunswick ? Crews will be performing a joint repair on the Frank J. Wood Bridge in Brunswick tonight, August 23rd. This minor repair work will necessitate an alternating one-way traffic pattern beginning at 10 p.m. with flaggers assisting motorists through the area.

It is anticipated this work will last three to four hours only.

Steep Falls Bridge Inspection

Limington-Standish ? Crews will be performing a routine bridge inspection on the Steep Falls Bridge, which spans the Saco River in Limington and Standish on Route 11.

This inspection, expected to last from Tuesday, August 28th through Friday, August 31st, necessitates an alternating one-way traffic pattern over the bridge, with flaggers assisting motorists.

This daytime project is being conducted by TranSystems of Boston, Massachusetts.

Mexico-Peru Bridge Closure

Mexico-Peru ? Crews will be installing piping and conducting sewer work at the intersection of North Main Street and River Road (Route 2) forcing the full closure of the Mexico-Peru Bridge on Wednesday evening, August 29th. This work will start at 6:30 p.m. and continue overnight until 6:30 a.m.

Flaggers, detour signs and variable message boards will all help direct travelers along the detour route of approximately eight miles.

US Route 1 in Stockton Springs To Close Overnight

Stockton Springs ? US Route 1 in Stockton Springs will be closed, both northerly and southerly, on Wednesday, August 29th starting at 6 p.m. Crews will be setting steel beams in place for the Church Street Bridge until 5 a.m. on Thursday, August 30th.

While local traffic will be allowed thru the work zone, all other motorists traveling north will be guided by detour signs using Main Street through the downtown. Southerly traffic will be assisted by flaggers in an alternating one-way traffic pattern. The detour for both directions is approximately one-quarter mile
