Traffic Sensor Work in Newport

NEWPORT - The Maine Department of Transportation will be installing traffic count sensors on Route 7/11 in Newport next week. The work area is just south of the Corinna line. We will be closing the southbound lane on Tuesday, August 18th and closing the northbound lane on Wednesday, August 19th. Each day, work should start at 8:00 a.m. and will likely be finished by 4:00 p.m. Like all outdoor construction work, this work is weather-dependent. These sensors allow MaineDOT to accurately classify and count the number of vehicles using this highway throughout the year.
