WASHINGTON COUNTY - Beginning on April 8th, the Maine Department of Transportation will be doing road reconstruction and rehabilitation work to improve safety on Route 1 in the towns of Jonesboro, Whitneyville, and Machias in Washington County. The work will be from a point just north of the Whitneyville Road and extend a little more than three miles north to a point just past the Whitneyville/Machias town line. Lane restrictions are expected to create minor delays between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on weekdays. The contractor for the project is Eurovia, formerly The Lane Construction Corporation. The project is expected to be finished by June 29th, 2019.
