MaineDOT Announces Single Night Closure for Ticonic Bridge
Drivers and pedestrians should plan for detours.
WATERVILLE– May 1, 2026 — From May 7 at 7 P.M. to May 8 at 6 A.M., MaineDOT will be closing the Ticonic Bridge for a single night closure to all traffic for construction activities requiring access to the entire bridge.
During this time, pedestrians will NOT be allowed to transit the bridge.
During this closure, vehicle traffic will be detoured south to the Carter Memorial Bridge.
Pedestrian traffic will be detoured north to the Two Cent Bridge.
Pedestrians and vehicles will be required to follow the posted detour routes.
Message boards will be used to warn drivers of the closure.
When the closure ends, westbound traffic should continue to follow the posted detour routes to the Carter Memorial Bridge.
The contractor on this project is Cianbro Corporation. The contract amount is $52,800,000.
