Clay Hill Bridge in Kennebunk Being Replaced

Kennebunk/Wells ? Crews are replacing the Clay Hill Bridge which spans the Mousam River near Parsons Beach in Kennebunk. This work necessitates the construction of a temporary bridge to carry Route 9 traffic over the Mousam River crossing.

Starting Monday, September 24, all thru traffic will be directed onto the temporary bridge. This temporary bridge has a 13.5 ft. wide one lane which will allow signalized alternating one-way traffic only. In addition, there will not be any permitted over-sized loads allowed on the temporary bridge until the project?s completion, slated for the beginning of October of 2013.

The Clay Hill Bridge has reached its useful service lifespan, and requires replacing. This $1.87 million project is being performed by Technical Construction, Inc. of Turner.
