Programs and Presentations
Our Wildlife Keepers are excited to share with you fun and interesting facts about the resident wildlife at Maine Wildlife park as well as species of wildlife native to Maine and the conservation efforts underway to protect and enhance our natural resources.
Wildlife Keeper Talks
Join a member of our wildlife care team as they share some special insights about the different animals who call Maine Wildlife Park home, and some fun facts about the species they represent! Locations and times will be posted at the informational booth just inside the park. Talks will occur in the morning and afternoon.
Field Trips
Join us to learn about Maine's amazing animal adaptations. We will discuss and examine the many amazing varieties of physical and behavioral characteristics that enable Maine wildlife to survive and do their 'jobs' within their environment. From owl wings to beaver teeth we will learn how animals are adapted to survive in their habitats. We will look at how animals eat, hide, hunt, move, and more! (This presentation will focus on examples from different animal groups found in Maine and talk about elements like camouflage, predators, prey, carnivores, herbivores, omnivores, and other types of animal adaptations.)
Each presentation is designed to take an inquisitive approach to understanding how wildlife has evolved, adapted to their environments, and been a part of human history. Each presentation will have scientific based information that meets the needs of NGSS as well as conservation messaging that supports Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife goals and objectives with wildlife conservation and outdoor recreation. All while drawing meaningful connections to participants. Each topic can be scaled up or down depending on the age and ability of each group. (Please let us know of any special requests or needs when scheduling your visit.)
