MDIFW NEWS - Search team needed in Picataquis County

The Maine Warden Service is seeking interest from the public to create a volunteer search and rescue team in the Piscataquis County area. There will be an informational meeting held at the Greenville Fire Department this Wednesday, September 20 at 6:00 PM. Members of the Maine Warden Service, Maine Association of Search and Rescue (MASAR) and Piscataquis EMA will be speaking on search and rescue procedures in the State. Training requirements for individuals and groups looking to assist in SAR missions will also be discussed.

Year after year, Piscataquis County generates a large number of search and rescue calls due to its rural nature and vast recreational opportunities. The Maine Warden Service works with MASAR trained volunteer groups throughout the State to fulfill its search and rescue mission and encourages those interested in the Piscataquis area to attend this meeting.
