Veterans Memorial Bridge Closed Thursday Night

SOUTH PORTLAND ? Due to construction of the new Veterans Memorial Bridge, the existing Veterans Memorial Bridge will be closed from 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 10 to 6 a.m. the next day. This necessary closure will allow construction crews to safely install drainage pipe across the existing bridge.

Detour signs will be posted to alert drivers of alternate routes. Please plan ahead and allow more time to get to your destination. MaineDOT regrets any inconvenience caused by this necessary closure.

Reconstruction Of Route 201 In Farmingdale Enters Final Stages ? Grading and Paving Scheduled For This Weekend

Farmingdale, ME ? The reconstruction of Route 201 in the town of Farmingdale is in the final stages of construction, according to the general contractor completing the project. John Sturgeon, Senior Project Manager for Sargent Corporation stated, "We are continuing our efforts to accelerate the project for final completion by June 30th with the least possible daytime disruption to the local businesses and the traveling public".

Traffic Counting in Boothbay

Boothbay ? Crews will be installing traffic counting sensors in the pavement in Boothbay on Monday, May 21st, and Tuesday, May 22nd. (Rain date is Thursday, May 24th) The installation will be on Route 27, approximately 50 feet north of the intersection of the River Road, extending southerly for 500 feet.

Due to alternating one-way traffic through the work zone, flaggers will assist motorists from 9am to 3pm while the work is being conducted.

Bradford Culvert Replacements Start May 21st

Bradford ? Work crews will be replacing existing drainage culverts in the town of Bradford from May 21st through the 25th from Stores Corner to the Jones Road. There will be a full road closure until the project is completed, with detour signs guiding motorists away from the work zone.

The project begins a half mile south of Stores Corner on Route 155, with traffic closed off on each side. Variable message signs are currently alerting drivers, and will remain active through the period. The detour routes are as follows:

Bay of Naples Bridge Celebration

Naples - Friday, May 18th marked the celebration of the opening of the new Bay of Naples Bridge in Naples. This concrete structure, with a walkway stretching underneath for pedestrians, is the culmination of nearly two years of dedication toward the Naples Causeway vision.

The day started at 1pm with remarks by Rep. Rich Cebra of Naples, MaineDOT Deputy Commissioner Bruce Van Note and chairman of the Causeway Restoration Committee, Robert Neault. They remarked on the dedicated cooperation of the state, town and contractors that were so vital in seeing the project become a reality.

Swing Bridge is Gone, Paving Continues

Naples ? Crews have finished removing the swing bridge at the Causeway in Naples as of last night, meaning the channel is open for recreational boating.

As part of the continued improvements to the area, there will be paving on Route 302 in Naples Thursday (5/24) and Friday (5/25) from the Causeway eastbound toward Windham for approximately one-quarter mile, including the intersection of Route 35.

Paving hours on Thursday will be from 6:30am to 7:30pm. Friday?s paving hours are from 4:00am to noon.

I-295 in Portland Exit 8 Closed

Portland ? I-295 at Exit 8 northbound, the Washington Avenue exit in Portland on Tukey?s Bridge, is closed due to a washout. Crews are on the scene and expect the closure to be in place for the next several hours.

Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route while crews continue to address the situation.
