More than 150,000 Maine Children Benefit from Pandemic Food Assistance

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced today that it has distributed over $166 million in food assistance to the families of more than 150,000 Maine children through the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program.
This month, the Department issued the final round of federally funded benefits through the program, which began in May 2020 as part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020.

Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) Phase 2 Trainings
The EVV requirements for Home Health providers delivering services under Section 40 were implemented on January 1, 2023.
We continue to offer weekly provider and aggregator trainings. All trainings are online via Microsoft Teams.
NOTE: The Absorb training system has been updated to allow providers to register for trainings more than once.

As previously shared in our June 20, 2023, bulletin, the Department initiated a rate determination process* for CCBHC (Section TBD). As a result of that process, we are now conducting a rate study.

New Place of Service (POS) Code 27: Outreach Site/Street
On June 29, 2023, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the new POS code 27, that will be effective October 1, 2023. This POS code is for services that are provided on the street to people who are unhoused or experiencing homelessness.
