Online Spill Information

Hazardous & Oil Spill System Online Report Service - Online tool that allows you to retrieve a report once the data relative to it has been finalized by the DEP for public viewing. This database may be searched by: spill number, reported date range, location, tank type, and/or keywords. There is no cost for searching or viewing reports.

Home Heating Oil Tank Information/Filter Protectors - Information for homeowners regarding above ground storage tanks, tank safety, filter protector information and spill prevention.

Oil Spill Locations on Google Earth - The Maine DEP GIS Unit is now offering selected data, geographically referenced, from a number of the department's databases to the public via Google Earth.  You will need to have Google Earth installed to view this data.

Response Equipment List - Appendix I from the Maine Marine Oil Spill Contingency Plan. Contains information regarding equipment and support services available when responding to spills. If you would like to be added to the equipment and support list, contact us.

Committees & Working Groups

Maine and New Hampshire Area Committee - This Committee is responsible for area contingency planning and coordination for response to a discharge of oil or hazardous materials.

Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) - Coordinates risk reduction, preparedness, response and recovery from emergencies and disasters at a State level.

State Emergency Response Commission (SERC) & Local Emergency Response Commission (LEPC) - Coordinates emergency planning, training and activities with regard to hazardous materials.

National Response Center - Federal point of contact for reporting oil and chemical spills.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) - Provides weather, water, and climate forecasts, as well as monitors the environment and examines changes in the oceans.
