MaineDOT crews are scheduled to begin work on the Kelly Road Bridge that carries the Kelly Road over I-95 in Orono starting Monday, May 9.

Crews will be repainting the steel members of the bridge. Crews will first remove the existing paint, then apply three layers of a protective urethane in order to extend the life of the bridge steel.

Traffic on Kelly Road over the bridge will be limited to one lane of alternating traffic regulated by temporary signal lights. Motorists on I-95 may also be impacted by temporary lane cloures.

On Sunday, May 8th, the I-295 northbound Exit 10 on-ramp at Bucknam Road in Falmouth will be closed from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. on Monday in order for crews to excavate and improve the drainage system. Motorists are advised to use Route 1 to Yarmouth. The ramp may open sooner if work is completed earlier.

Drivers on I-295 are advised to pay close attention to signage connected with repair work, especially signs indicating reduced speed zones. For more information and to sign up for email alerts, please go to mainedot.gov.

Officials from the Maine Department of Transportation held a press conference today to announce the start of a new rehabilitation project for Tukeys Bridge northbound and the four overpasses immediately north of the bridge. The contract for this project was recently awarded to CPM Constructors.

North of Portland, Pike Industries is involved with mill-and-fill work and guardrail and drainage updates in both north and southbound of I-295 from Falmouth to Freeport. This work is expected to be completed sometime in July.

Bridge repairs on the Merrymeeting Bay Bridge that carries Route 196 over the Androscoggin River and connects Brunswick and Topsham enter a new phase on Thursday night as construction crews will be grinding out the existing pavement Thursday and Friday nights, May 12 and 13. Crews will maintain one open lane of traffic in each direction as they remove the pavement.

Motorists who utilize I-95 in central and northern Maine should be aware of paving projects that could cause possible traffic delays over the upcoming weeks.

Starting Sunday, May 15, construction crews are set to begin work on the Freeport to Brunswick I-295 project, a repaving project between Exits 20 and 28 on both the northbound and southbound lanes of the interstate.

In the upcoming week, motorists traveling northbound will notice crews working on culverts and improving drainage along the shoulders of the road. Once work is completed on the northbound side, crews will then complete the same work on the southbound side.

The Departments of Transportation from Maine and New Hampshire will host a public meeting concerning a permanent closure of the New Bridge that connects Lebanon with Milton, New Hampshire on Thursday, May 19 at the Milton Town Hall at 3:00 p.m. in the Emma Ramsey Center. The New Bridge is currently closed to all traffic due to weight restrictions.

Construction is set to begin Monday, May 30 on a 2.8-mile section of Route 4 in Sanford and Alfred.

Crews will be removing a layer of pavement, then will be repaving over the existing road in order to extend the life of the pavement. During construction, traffic will be restricted to one lane of alternating, one-way traffic.

If the project proceeds as planned and there are no weather-related delays, construction should be completed by the end of June.

Pike Industries is the contractor for the $474,000 contract.

As previously announced, construction crews working on Tukeys Bridge have erected a concrete barrier that separates Washington Avenue from I-295 Northbound, making Washington Avenue a local road. This concrete barrier completely closes off Exit 8 from northbound I-295 traffic. Motorists should expect delays during the evening commute.

?Because drivers will temporarily not have access to and from Washington Avenue and I-295 North, we?re recommending two official detour routes,? said MaineDOT Bridge Program Manager David Sherlock.

MaineDOT announced today that crews are set to begin construction next week on the replacement of the Village Bridge in Kenduskeag. The Village Bridge carries the Stetson Road over Kenduskeag Stream to the intersection of Route 15 in Kenduskeag.

On Tuesday, June 7, construction crews will close the bridge and detour traffic onto the Mudgett Road and Higginsville Road. Truck traffic will be directed to the Morey Road. If construction proceeds as planned, the new bridge will reopen by mid-November.
