Food & Nutrition

Food Supplement Program (SNAP)

Food Supplement helps low-income households buy the food they need for good health.

Through SNAP-Ed, participants can also receive nutrition education services with helpful information on how to eat healthy on a budget.

Health Insurance

Health insurance provides financial protection from health care costs by covering some or all of the expenses of routine and emergency medical care. Many Americans receive health insurance as part of a benefit package offered by their employer, but there may be other options available if you do not have insurance through a job, or the coverage available to you is too expensive.

Programs & Services

The Department of Health and Human Services oversees a wide range of programs impacting Mainers across the state from MaineCare health insurance, child support payments, water testing, disease control, and background checks.
