Cumberland Street In Westbrook Remains Closed

WESTBROOK, Maine ? The Cumberland Mills Bridge in Westbrook will remain closed through the night and through tomorrow?s morning commute. A detour utilizing Bridge Street and Main Street is in effect.

Crews placed quick-setting concrete and rebar in the repaired area, but the concrete can not yet support vehicle traffic, so a decision was made to keep the bridge closed. A decision on when the bridge will open will be made after the concrete repairs are re-inspected tomorrow (Thursday) morning.

Cumberland Street In Westbrook Closed, Will Reopen By Evening Commute

WESTBROOK, Maine ? MaineDOT maintenance crews have closed the Cumberland Mills Bridge in Westbrook that carries Cumberland Street over the Presumpscot River in order to make repairs to a large pothole that appeared last night.

In order to repair the 2? x 3? pothole, crews are removing the deteriorated concrete surrounding the pothole, then will fill in the area with a quick-setting concrete. MaineDOT crews discovered the pothole at approximately midnight last night, and began repairs to the bridge at approximately 6:00 a.m. this morning.

Gorham County Road Improvements to Start October 26, 2011

Gorham, Maine ? Motorists traveling on Route 22/114 (County Road) in Gorham need to be aware of road reconstruction with alignment, drainage and safety improvements on October 26, 2011. The project begins west of the intersection with the Burnham Road and extends east. It also extends south westerly down the Burnham Road.

The drainage improvements start on October 26, 2011 and will continue through mid December as weather allows. The roadway rebase and paving will resume in April 2012. The anticipated completion is slated for late June 2012.

Brunswick Intersection Work Starts Monday, October 24

Brunswick, Maine ? Safety improvements and pedestrian enhancements at the intersection at Maine St. and Route 24 in Brunswick will begin on Monday, October 24. Contractor H.C Crooker and Sons will have message boards to alert motorists of potential delays due to drainage work and tree stump removal. Crews will also be removing the Spanish Square War Memorial for re location. Work is expected to be completed for the season in mid to late November, 2011. In April of 2012, crews will return to install a traffic island.

Pipe Repair in Brunswick

Pipe Repair in Brunswick

Brunswick, Maine ? Route 1 at the Brunswick/Freeport town line will be closed starting at 6:00pm tonight (WED) for an emergency replacement of a pipe due to failure. Detour signs will guide motorists from Exit 24 to Exit 28 on Interstate 295. The road will be open to local traffic on either side of the repair location.

Crews anticipate the work to be completed by 5:00am Thursday, October 27, 2011.

Brunswick/Freeport Closure Continues

Brunswick, Maine ? Route 1 in Brunswick continues to have unanticipated issues with a pipe failure running beneath the roadway. Crews have initiated single lane traffic through today, with night work beginning at 8pm, closing the road except for local traffic on either side of the project.

On Sunday, October 30, full road closure will take place to change the pipe and repave the area. It is anticipated work will be completed Monday morning, October 31, 2011.
