Immigration Scams - Protecting New Mainers

The Attorney General's Office protects all residents of Maine, including New Mainers.  We are here to help you.

What you need to know

Immigration law is complicated.  Dishonest people may pretend that they can help you with your immigration paperwork.  Instead, these people may give you bad legal advice that can hurt your immigration case.  Below is information that will help you avoid immigration scams.

Solar Power Systems

Thinking of installing a solar electric (photovoltaic) system?

Installing a solar electric system in your home is a long-term financial commitment and the marketplace for solar products is complex. Before you enter into a contact for a solar system, do a lot of homework. Be wary of generic and misleading claims like, "Start saving money immediately!" While the Maine Unfair Trade Practices Act prohibits deceptive or misleading claims, it does not specifically address potential solar misrepresentations.

Housing

Here you will find information about home construction contractors, renting, mobile homes and mobile home parks, heating fuel, and more.
