The Bridging Rental Assistance Program (BRAP) assists clients with Serious Mental Illness, including those who also have a Substance Use Disorder, with obtaining transitional housing. BRAP provides a rental subsidy and assists clients with finding independent housing in communities throughout Maine. A program of the DHHS Office of Behavioral Health, BRAP is intended to serve as a bridge between homelessness and more permanent housing options, such as Section 8.

Increasing the number of CNAs in Maine through collaboration

The Maine Registry of Certified Nursing Assistant and Direct Care Workers (the "CNA Registry"), in partnership with other key stakeholders, has been working for the past year to increase the number of active Certified Nursing Assistants ("CNA") in Maine. The CNA Registry has identified barriers faced by out-of-state CNA applicants who are looking to work in Maine and is working to implement changes to reduce those barriers.

Under the comprehensive prescription drug reform package Governor Mills signed into law in June, Maine will move forward with a wholesale drug importation program, pending approval from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

The Lewiston listening session will be held Thursday, November 21 at 5:30pm in the Lewiston DHHS Office.

The Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) provides transportation to approximately 55,000 Mainers each year. This includes about 2.5 million trips to doctors' offices, educational classes, employment opportunities, and appointments.
