Unclaimed Property Holder's Report

Unclaimed Property Holder's Online Reporting Service

Welcome to the Treasurer's online unclaimed property reporting service. If you are an entity with property belonging to another person and you have held the property for the required dormancy period, it should be reported as unclaimed property as described below.

If you are an entity located or incorporated in the State of Maine and you are holding NO unclaimed property, you should file a negative report.

Entities must notify owners of unclaimed property valued at $50 or more of their intention to report property to the State of Maine. This notice must be sent no more than 120 days and no less than 60 days prior to filing their report.

Unclaimed Property Reporting Forms and Instructions (PDF, 1.7mb). This file requires the free Adobe Reader.

Who can use this service?

Business entities that possess or have custody of unclaimed property are considered holders. Holders are required to report all unclaimed property, no matter how small. The State Treasurer safeguards the property forever.

Holders may use this service to report unclaimed property to the State Treasurer.

What you will need:

  • A list of the unclaimed property you wish to report. This includes, but is not limited to, information about the holder and information about the property being held.
  • A printer available.
