Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles Bracing For Significant Increase In License Renewals

AUGUSTA, Maine – The Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) is expecting a significant increase in driver’s license renewals beginning July 1.  License renewals are projected to nearly double, increasing from 128,170 (January 2010-June 2011) to 237,435 (July 2011-December 2012).

With this is in mind, Secretary of State Charlie Summers would like to remind Maine drivers about the two documents needed to renew a drivers license at the BMV: one that verifies that you are a resident of Maine and one that proves your legal presence in the United States (as required by federal law).
