Secretary of State to Host a Two-Day Elections Training Conference for Municipal Clerks and Registrars

Clerks and Registrars from 250 Maine Cities and Towns to Attend Conference in Bangor

Bangor- Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap and State elections officials will be hosting a two-day educational conference in Bangor, providing municipal clerks and registrars the latest information on Maine election law.  Municipal Clerks and Registrars representing approximately 250 Maine municipalities will convene in the Spectacular Events Center in Bangor tomorrow morning, Tuesday, September 21st at 8:30 a.m.

Highlights of this year’s conference will be overviews and trainings on two important new absentee voting laws – one guaranteeing voters, from every Maine municipality, the opportunity to request an absentee ballot online using the State’s Absentee Ballot Request (ABR) service; the other addressing the implementation of the federal Military and Overseas Empowerment (MOVE) Act.  Clerks and Registrars will also receive other important updates and will review election practices and procedures in preparation for the November 2, 2010 General Election.

Secretary Dunlap will be available for questions and interviews.  Please use the contact information above for scheduling.
