PenBay Pilot highlights CRP-funded Community Preparedness Summit

The Penobscot Bay Pilot highlighted that, using a Community Resilience Partnership grant, the Towns of Rockport and Camden partnered with the American Red Cross and the Knox County Emergency Management Agency to host the Community Preparedness Summit on September 25.

Nearly 50 representatives of local organizations and towns came together to discuss five possible emergency scenarios: a wind-driven wildfire, a prolonged heat dome straining the grid and endangering health, a Category 3 hurricane followed by extreme cold, an extended fuel shortage, and a cybersecurity attack causing power and internet outages.

The event highlighted the critical gaps and needs the towns need to address in order to be more resilient to climate-related and other emergencies.

The Community Resilience Partnership is a program of the State Resilience Office at the Maine Office of Community Affairs.
