AUGUSTA – The Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee voted to unanimously advance two pieces of legislation sponsored by Rep. Kristen Cloutier, D-Lewiston, that would permanently establish and fund the Respite for ME Program to support Maine caregivers.
AUGUSTA – The Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee gave unanimous approval Wednesday to a bill sponsored by Rep. Michele Meyer, D-Eliot, to increase funding for domestic violence response and prevention services in Maine.
LD 875 would provide an additional $4 million in funding annually to Maine’s network of eight regional domestic violence resource centers.

AUGUSTA – The Legislature's Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee unanimously advanced legislation on Wednesday proposed
by Rep. Parnell Terry, D-Gorham, that would provide funding for organizations that recruit retiring military members and their families to Maine, and offer support as they transition to civilian life.
Rep. Sharon Frost, U-Belgrade, and fellow legislators welcomed Abigail Bartlett, of New Sharon, and her parents to the State House on Thursday. Bartlett was awarded the 2025 Legislative Memorial Scholarship for Franklin County.
AUGUSTA – The Legislature’s Taxation Committee voted Tuesday to advance a bill sponsored by Rep. Stephan Bunker, D-Farmington, that would allow municipalities to adopt a program to provide additional benefits to volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians.
