AUGUSTA - The Maine House and Senate voted unanimously on Wednesday to advance legislation sponsored by Rep. Kelly Noonan Murphy, D-Scarborough, that would increase access to electric breast pumps for MaineCare recipients.

As amended, LD 603 would allow eligible MaineCare recipients to obtain electric breast pumps and supplies when they are prescribed or recommended by a health care provider without needing prior approval from MaineCare.

AUGUSTA - The Maine House of Representatives gave final approval on Thursday to LD 1520, sponsored by Rep. Cheryl Golek, D-Harpswell, which would direct the Maine Department of Education and the Maine Department of Health and Human Services to study the feasibility of placing child care facilities in schools.

AUGUSTA - On Thursday, two measures to assist unhoused Mainers, LD 599 and LD 1422, both sponsored by Rep. Michael Brennan, D-Portland, were enacted in the House of Representatives.

AUGUSTA - The Maine House of Representatives voted Thursday to enact two pieces of legislation sponsored by Rep. Tiffany Roberts, D-South Berwick, that would provide proactive and strategic approaches to addressing chronic absenteeism and ensuring that students who have experienced educational disruptions have stability and support.

Gov. Janet Mills held a bill signing ceremony Wednesday for LD 276, a measure sponsored by Rep. Dan Ankeles, D-Brunswick, that will empower local authorities to invest in infrastructure repairs to protect natural resources from storm water runoff on the former Brunswick Naval Air Station.

AUGUSTA - Rep. Holly T. Sargent, D-York, has been appointed to serve on the New England Board of Higher Education (NEBHE) by Speaker of the House Rachel Talbot Ross, D-Portland.

NEBHE was founded more than 65 years ago and works with New England's higher education stakeholders in public and private education to support innovation, engage conversation and drive change. NEBHE promotes greater education opportunities and services for residents of New England and its more than 270 colleges and universities.

AUGUSTA - The Maine House of Representatives voted unanimously Tuesday to advance a measure from Rep. Kathy Shaw, D-Auburn, that would help Maine schools create outdoor experiential education programs.

AUGUSTA - Today, LD 936 and LD 949, both sponsored by Rep. Amy Roeder, D-Bangor, have advanced in the Senate.

AUGUSTA - The Maine House of Representatives voted unanimously Tuesday to advance legislation sponsored by Rep. Anne-Marie Mastraccio, D-Sanford, that would examine the feasibility of introducing a new program at the University of Maine at Augusta to help bolster Maine's dental care workforce.

AUGUSTA - The Maine Legislature advanced a bill this week from Rep. Nina Milliken, D-Blue Hill, that would create a civil cause of action in Maine law for victims of non-consensual condom removal, colloquially known as "stealthing." The House of Representatives voted 73-51 to advance the measure on Tuesday, and the Senate voted 27-6 to advance the measure on Wednesday.
